Fassbender Stevens Gallery is pleased to present internationally exhibited Swiss artist Christian Herdeg in his first one person show with the gallery.

The works of Christian Herdeg are beautifully austere geometric constructions using neon with various other materials such as rubber and plexiglass. Herdeg's pure reductionist philosophy coupled with his kinetically perceived use of light results in radiantly ethereal works.

Herdeg has been working in light sculpture since the mid-1960's and early in his career, had a 'color keyboard' mixed of over 200 pigments with special ionic qualities. A coating of these superfine luminous powders is applied to the inside of his glass tubes. This subtle palette of colored light cannot be achieved commercially.

Throughout his career Herdeg has remained true to his core materials and constructivist ideals. He says that, "despite all the things I've done, I am still startled, stirred, and touched by certain vibrations in these light configurations." Continue to artwork...
