Fassbender Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of paintings and prints by internationally recognized artist John Walker. Walker’s rich and densely layered paintings engage history, biography, and poetry through a highly developed personal language. Walker is a true painter’s painter, admired for his sensitivity to the many textures of paint, and respected for his uncanny ability to reinvent its form.

In addition to the exhibition of Walker’s paintings, Fassbender will also feature Passing Bells, a portfolio of 27 intaglios. Passing Bells is a powerful and intense collection of images based on the horrors of World War I. The title refers to the opening line of Wilfred Owen’s poem Anthem For Doomed Youth. Walker has said that he was inspired to create these images by his memory of his Father’s recollections of the First World War. Passing Bells is a collection of emotionally raw memories made poignantly clear.
