Fassbender Gallery is pleased to present a new body of works by Shona Macdonald in the Project Room. Living and teaching in Chicago, but originally hailing from Scotland, Macdonald continues her investigation of the meditative aspects of painting and collage. Utilizing everything from pencil and pen to envelopes and collaged magazine imagery, she repeats subject matter until it becomes pattern, and works in minute detail until the see-able almost disappears into background. In these new works, the artist obsessively copies topographical illustrations of the islands that comprise Scotland until they become vibrantly colored abstractions.
