PRESS RELEASE
In conjunction with Absolut Vision 4, Fassbender Gallery is pleased to present Afterimage, a reflection on minimalism. The title refers to an optical memory of an event or subject. This group exhibition was organized around Fassbender's gallery artists who are currently working with formal and conceptual issues tied to minimalism. The pieces chosen for this show are reflective of current dialogues on psychological, emblematic, and imaginary expressions of objectness. While looking back on minimalism at the end of the millennium, this exhibition will also project minimalist discourse into the new century.
This exhibition features a new site specific wall installation of beeswax by Raye Bemis. Raye's installation deals with issues of location, time and object, and contains a real time video element that documents a second wall installation that Raye will be simultaneously construction. Other gallery artists featured in this exhibition are Frank Badur, Jens Hanke, Ulli Rooney, Mario Reis, Thomas Skomski, and Birgitta Weimer. |
