Fassbender Gallery is pleased to present new paintings by self-taught Chicago artist, Matt Lamb. Internationally recognized for his deeply spiritual mixed-media paintings, Lamb portrays a personal and continuing narrative that explores his own experiences and many timely social and political issues. The speed and fervor with which the artist works is indicative of the joy with which he approaches his craft and his life. It is reflected in his richly textured surfaces and heavy reliance on vibrant primary colors. Thick layering of paint speaks to the many layers of meaning and history present in interpersonal and societal relations. In these works, highly stylized, almost calligraphic, figures repeat until they become archetypal characters within a hierarchy of good and evil
