Fassbender Stevens Gallery is pleased to present a new body of work by New York artist Kim Keever. Keever creates and photographs large and intensely lit plaster models depicting dramatic visions of geological formations and undiscovered worlds that are created in a 100 gallon tank. The imagery is reminiscent of romantic postcards with a sci-fi twist, an erupting volcano, a rich red sunset or an underwater adventure. Keever has worked photographing his magical landscapes since 1991. He floods these with colored lights as he pours colored inks over the models submerged in water. The resulting photographic images are rich in color with areas of sharp contrast and areas of abstract forms. Each photograph is a unique moment in time mirroring nature by having a particular light, a distinct color. It is Keever's painterly use of atmospheric color that distinguishes these images from landscape photography. There is something other worldly about the photographs. This will be his third solo exhibition with the gallery.
