In the Project Room, Leslie Eliet will present Walking (Ink) Meditation. In this new series of works on paper the artist compares the serial aspects of etchings with the recurrence of memory in the transformative stream of consciousness. For this exhibition, Eliet combines etchings grouped in rhythmic patterns and transitional passages in ink, watercolor, collage and monoprint. The work is presented in two ways: as artist's books and as a single wall installation measuring 9 inches high by 87 feet in length. As the prints symbolize the occurrence of a degree of chaos in an orderly system, the freely painted gestural passages symbolize the seasons and utilize the fluid and fractal nature of water and ink to emphasize the underlying order and structure of what are perceived as inherently chaotic phenomena.
